Floyd County Monthly Wellness Calendar
Chickasaw County Public Health
Chickasaw County Public Health Agency offers a variety of services and education for infants, children, expecting moms, and parents. These include:
Immunization Clinics:
Held the first Thursday of every month from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and the third Thursday of every month from noon to 4:30 p.m. Clinic dates may change depending if a holiday falls on that Thursday of the clinic scheduled.
Chickasaw County Public Health Agency requires that before children receive their immunizations at our clinic, they first visit their doctor for a well check, with the parent bringing in the permission slip for the shots to be given. This immunization clinic is a "Vaccines for Children (VFC)" provider.
Immunizations are free for children 18 old and younger for
this state funded vaccine program. Donations
of $13.00 are accepted for the administration fee of the vaccines.
Please bring record of previous immunizations if new to the clinic. Appointments for clinics are required and may be made by
calling our office.
Childhood Lead Screens:
Are encouraged for children age 6 months to 6 years old. This is done annually. There is no charge, as this is funded through the Empowerment Grant. If you have any questions about this screening discuss them with your family physician or call our office. If interested in screening your child for lead poisoning, call our office to schedule a time for the lead screening. The lead screening only takes 5 minutes. The lead screening may also be done during an immunization clinic when you bring your child in for shots. It is very important for all parents to understand every child is at risk for elevated lead levels regardless of the age of your home. Children play at grandparents', other family members' and friends' homes and outside where things are put into their mouths. Lead-poisoned children may have learning and behavior problems as they grow older. It is easily treated if detected early. Call for an appointment today.
WIC Clinic:
Is for income eligible families that have children under age 5, pregnant individuals or if you are breastfeeding. Call Operation Threshold/WIC office in Waterloo toll free at
1-800-643-1629 to find out if you are income eligible and to schedule an appointment. WIC Clinics are held at the Chickasaw County Community Services Building at
260 E. Prospect in New Hampton the fourth Wednesday of every month from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
